A 9-Step Procedure for New Clients in Web Design

A new website is a significant investment for any company, no matter how big or little. The web design process is one of the first things that new clients usually want to know. That is why I have laid out a 9-step procedure for creating a brand-new, custom-designed website. It describes the process I go through with each client to build a one-of-a-kind website that boosts their company.

Research comprises the first three stages of web design and includes project definition, goal setting, and researching the target audience and competitors. Determining the website’s scope and features, creating a content framework, and constructing a sitemap are the following three steps in the wire-framing process. Branding and design, website development, content uploading, and testing make up the last three steps.

1.Step

Determining the nature of the project and your desired outcomes is the initial stage. What this means is outlining the idea, project, or service that the website will promote or offer. To what ends is the website designed? If the website must make money, how will it do it? Will it have to sell something or charge for a subscription? Lastly, even at this early stage, you should define success by how many hits or monthly sales you need.

2.Step

Knowing who you’re writing for is the second step. Making sure the design and UX are in line with your target audience’s previous consumer experiences is crucial. We must inquire as to the demographics of the intended users of this website, including their age, gender, and level of disposable income. How do they usually shop? Can you tell me what other products and services they purchase and which websites they frequent? Do they also enjoy other types of media? Last but not least, how exactly will your target market benefit from your offering?

3.Step

One of the most crucial steps in developing a website is researching your competitors. Tell me who your online rivals are and how is your company different from theirs. In your opinion, what have they accomplished well and what do you think they could do better on their websites?

4.Step

Drawing boundaries for the website’s reach. You should now be able to define the scope of the website after all the initial research. Find out: in order for the site to achieve its objectives, what pages and features are necessary? Can it function as an online store, integrate with social media, and allow users to subscribe to newsletters? How can one go about creating these?

5.Step

The organization and substance of digital properties. Making a wireframe to illustrate the content’s interconnections is the next step after defining the website’s scope. The homepage is crucial to user experience and visitor retention rates, so I also like to mock up its structure early on. What content and links should be featured? The next step, when the magic happens, is when you put all that hard work into making the website’s content. Make sure the images and text are ready for that!

6.Step

Web page layout. For reasons that should be readily apparent, this is a favorite step of mine in web design. Finding the website’s style and implementing the visual brand follows all the preliminary work. At this point, I’m gathering a sense of my client’s likes and dislikes by perusing their preferred websites; my goal is not to replicate their style, but rather to gain some ideas. If I want to make a design that does my client and their company justice, I need to study up on them.

I make the initial website mockup, typically of the home page and a couple of other primary pages, using moodboards and sketches as my basis. This will serve to illustrate the planned layout and navigation of the site. After getting my client’s input, I’ll make adjustments to the designs until they’re satisfied and ready to go on to the next phase of web design.

7.Step

Website coding in two phases. The client has to approve all of the page mockups before I can begin coding the site. There are two phases to this, the second of which is testing. First, the designs are transformed into responsive HTML. They will already have a lot of the interactivity and can be tested on mobile, tablets, and desktop. The final custom WordPress theme is created from the HTML pages after this stage and any required changes have been made.

8.Step

Finishing off the text. When the WordPress theme is complete, the next step is to install it on the server. I am responsible for linking the pages, creating the menus, and writing all of the content. Roll out! We are now prepared to launch the website. If you want to hear what people think before you make any major announcements, I recommend a soft launch. After this step is finished, the website can go live and public relations efforts can begin.
