Guidelines of why your neck is always in pain

Neck pain usually lasts from days to weeks. It completely depends on the cause of it. Before knowing the reason for your neck pains, you should know what neck pain is. When you feel a sudden ache beneath your head or just above the spine, it is known as neck pain. It can be caused by various other reasons. It might reduce your energy, and you may not be able to do your work as it cannot be ignored.

Different types of neck pain stay for different periods. Axial neck pain is usually felt in the neck, and Radicular neck pain causes little pain in the shoulders and the arms; this might last upto 6 weeks. Chronic neck pain might last from 3 months to a few years.

Neck pain is extremely common in this generation as students and teachers are continuously sitting in front of their laptops and doing work on them. They sit in uncomfortable positions and might affect their neck and spine for a lifetime. It is said to be more common in women than men. The pain caused can be so immense that you might have to visit a neck and back specialist.

Symptoms of neck pain include stiffness in the neck, suddenly caused sharp pain shooting up and down the spine, pain when moving, headache.

Let us look at why our neck is paining all the time.

Neck pain can be caused due to many different reasons like-

  • Mental Stress-

Mental stress is one of the biggest reasons for neck pain. You normally tighten your neck muscles due to the stress caused in your life, because of which your neck could be stiff or achy. It is extremely important to manage stress in order to prevent other bodily harm as well.

  • Injury–

Our necks are extremely vulnerable and need to be taken proper care of. It can be caused when we fall, car accidents, while playing sports activities or even simply by sleeping in the wrong position at night might cause your neck pain the following day which is why you need to buy a proper pillow and good mattress which keeps you safe. Even by preventing mishaps which is impossible to do, at least taking precautions might help.

  • Physical strain-

Due to the virus that has spread upon the world, a lot of people are working from home using their laptops, and now since they aren’t in the office, there is no sense of discipline due to this; they sit uncomfortably and work the entire day on their laptops this causes immense physical strain directly on the neck and their spinal cord. Even children are studying through their devices throughout the day.

  • Aging–

Obviously, as age increases, many diseases are developed along with it, one of them being neck pain. If you do not take proper care, you might land up with osteoarthritis and even spinal stenosis. Due to stress, it might even lead up to spinal disc degeneration.

  • Being overweight

One more reason for neck pain is being overweight or being obese. This is why you should take care of what you eat and exercise daily. Practice exercises that help your body heal and stay active.

You can try relieving neck pain at home if it is not severe, but if you think that you have a lump or fever due to it, you need to see the doctor immediately. You can try using heating packs or ice packs at home to relieve pain. It might be a temporary solution. Exercising or doing yoga might also help you reduce the pain down a notch. Resting is extremely important. Take good care of your body, not for anyone else but you.
