What Can You Expect in Your First Year of Law School?

1. Annotating your reading materials

A first-year law student has to allocate most of their time to annotating reading material roughly.  Most of the readings will be of cases that are detailed opinion pieces written by judges. Annotating the pages in your readings will help you organize the material and quickly refer to it whenever necessary.

2. Reviewing study aids

Study aids will be your supplemental material with your existing conventional material. Reviewing your resources will benefit you in strengthening the subject matter. Study aids will help you to build an understanding of cases and concepts.

3. Attending your professors’ office hours

Meeting your professor during office hours. This is the only way for building a network with professionals in this field. These connections will help you in the long run. Taking additional actions to complete will show your dedication towards completing the academic process.

4. Participating in school and extracurricular activities

You must pursue your interest in your first year onwards. You must join some school clubs or extracurricular activities that will help you to remain engaged in regular activities. This will help you identify what law specialization you must focus on and possibly you may make strong friendships.

You need to examine the facts of the case and present them accordingly. Consult your professors or faculty members to know whichever practice material will be best.
